Another Corporation HQ Leaves New York for Texas

Thanks to the Houston Business Journal we learn that a chemical manufacturing company is moving its global headquarters to The Woodlands, near Houston. The company was based in Niskayuna, New York, near Schenectady and Albany, another loss for the string of upstate New York communities that run from Albany to Buffalo that have experienced continued business and population outmigration. Considering how poorly the state is run by its politicians, the additional loss is no surprise. The company has more than 20 offices and manufacturing facilities across the U.S and nine other countries in South America, Europe and Asia, employing more than 2,000 people. SI Group’s 82-acre corporate campus sold for $2.3 million, despite an assessed value of $20 million, the Albany Business Review reported. That indicates weak demand for business property in the area.
