California Company HQ Exits Skyrocketed in 2021 with More to Come

In 2021, California business headquarters left the state at twice their rate in both 2020 and 2019, and at three times their rate in 2018, according to a study issued jointly by Spectrum Location Solutions and the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. The report, “Why Company Headquarters Are Leaving California in Unprecedented Numbers,” names the companies that departed, the states to which they relocated and the California counties that lost headquarters in the 2018 – 2021 study period.
